Peach Country Bread

3 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
6 tablespoons sugar
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1-1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Blend peaches and 6 tablespoons of sugar in a blender until puréed. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon in a medium bowl and set mixture aside.
Combine 1-1/2 cups sugar and butter, creaming well. Add eggs and mix. Add peaches and dry ingredients, mixing until dry ingredients are moistened. Stir in nuts and vanilla.
Spoon batter into two well-greased and floured 9-inch-by-5-inch loaf pans. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes or until toothpicks inserted in the center come out nearly clean. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan.
